ETCHE LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL ACQUIRES GRADERS TO OPEN UP FEEDER ROADS

The Etche Local Government Council says it has acquired two new brand grader machines to open up all feeder roads across the council area.

The Executive Chairman of the council, Chief Hon Chima Boniface Njoku disclosed this at the flag off of the Mba Clan Reconnection to the national grid ceremony which was like a carnival as the five communities of Mba clan rolled out their drums in celebration.

Chief Chima Njoku said that as soon as the dry season sets in, the graders would move into action to ensure that all feeder roads in Etche are motorable, through direct labour and to be supervised by the Works Department of the Council.

He said each of the graders will be allocated to the two constituencies of Etche Local Government Area. "I have taken record of all the feeder roads that needs immediate attention, I went there myself and took record of them", he added.

The Etche Council boss reassured the people of Etche that all communities would be electrified towards accelerated development and industrialisation as the communities would be connected to band 'A' on the national grid for steady power supply.

He added that all 300kva/11kva transformers would be replaced with 500kva/33kva transformers and called on the people to jealously guide and protect the facilities for posterity.

Hon Chima Njoku further told the gathering that the council is interfacing with the State government to tackle the challenges of primary schools and health care facilities. He also informed them that the state government is taking steps to complete the abandoned Etche General Hospital at Okehi.

In his remarks, the leader of APC in Etche Local Government Area, Rt Hon Ephraim Nwuzi described Chima Njoku as a man with the heart of a lion that is determined to serve the people of Etche.

He commended him for the bold initiative to intervene with his Ikwerre counterpart over the land dispute with Chokocho in Etche and Omuwei in Ikwerre local government areas. He said their intervention has averted possible hostilities between the two communities over the disputed land.

Chief Ephraim Nwuzi called on the people of Etche to always pray for the chairman for God's protection and wisdom in running the affairs of Etche Local Government Area.
